» THE SHOP
Unlike some bike shops, we embrace rehabilitating used and vintage bicycles. We also sell some new bikes including Raleigh, Breezer, Fuji and Pashley, but at the Chain, our heart lies in rebuilding bicycles. It is our philosophy that many of the bicycles in our storage units and garages are still perfectly good machines that just need a little bit of attention and maintenance.
Since we deal with used bikes and parts, we selectively buy used bikes! We cant always promise we want what you have, but it never hurts to ask. Whether we’re buying or selling new or used bikes, we pride ourselves on honesty—we’ll tell you what the abilities and limitations are with the bike.
A few notes on our store’s offerings and policies:
Used bikes The heart of our operation is old bikes that have been reconditioned. We strip our bikes to the bare frame, inspect and clean everything, replace worn parts, and carefully rebuild and retune each bike. We take great pride in the quality of these bikes!
Selling bikes and parts Chances are you have some old bicycle parts lying around (honestly, who doesn’t?) or an old bicycle hanging in your garage. We are selective, but we will consider buying bikes and parts you no longer need—just bring them by for a quick check. Depending on the item, we’ll offer cash or store credit in exchange.
Note: In order to sell us something, you must have either proof of purchase or a California state ID/passport/military ID, as well as one other form of ID.
Warranties
New bikes: Manufacturer’s warranty. If a frame you bought from us breaks under warranty, we will swap your parts to the warranty replacement.
Used bikes: We offer a 30-day warranty for parts and labor.
Used parts: Used parts are sold as is.
Rosebud was a bike!
