New Stuff!
New shop jerseys and kits coming from Castelli!
Here ye! Here ye!
We are really excited to announce that we have finally pulled the trigger on getting some custom jerseys, bib shorts, arm warmers and caps! They are scheduled to arrive in early April (we are hoping for delivery around the first week) We have a limited number coming in so let us know what sizes you need to be sure you get them! If these are a success, we hope to get more in shortly after.
We realize we could have gotten slightly less expensive kits, but we wanted a quality brand to represent Citizen Chain. We appreciate the quality of the Italian-made Castelli fabrics, that are then printed and assembled in the USA! We also believe that when you ride in nice things, you feel better and you ride better.
We will be getting “Team” Jerseys with full length zippers, “Team” Bib Shorts, Thermoflex Arm Warmers and caps. For more detailed information is available on the Castelli website about these items, follow the Custom Collection link at the top of the page.
If you’re interested in one, please call the shop at (415) 796-2925 or email Sasha and he will send you a virtual packet with all the pertinent information.

About The Design:
The red scorpion is the Castelli logo. Those must be on there. Other than that, we have an updated Mr. Chain graphic on the back and a new Rosebud was a bike graphic on the arm and the bibshort. A San Francisco skyline with Coit Tower graces the over the left chest as well as on the inside of the brim on the cap. The green accent color of the kit is inspired by the parrots of Telegraph Hill that live nearby and most days can be heard flying over the shop. The parrot graphic is a tribute to the San Francisco flag. The actual flag has a phoenix rising from the flames to commemorate the rebuilding of San Francisco after the great earthquake and subsequent fire in 1906. The banner on the flag displays “Oro en Paz Fierro en Guerra,” which translated from Spanish means “Gold in Peace, Iron in War.” The banner under the parrot on our kit reads “Oro in Pace, Ferro in Giro,” which in Italian means “Gold in Peace, Iron in Bike Race.” The parrot is grasping a chain whip and a pedal wrench in its hands and is holding a rosebud in its beak.
Citizen Chain “Rosebud was a bike” shirts are back!

Rosebud was a bike and we have the shirts to let them know!
Thanks to everyone that has supported our little shop! We are proud to announce that our popular shop shirts are back in stock! We have boys and girls shirts in! For now they are still black - but who knows, one day we might even do some colors. Stay tuned for a few more shirt designs coming a little later this year! Email Sasha (like to the right) if you would like one!
Push the Envelope makes awesome bags
Hey internets. I just wanted to take a second to thank Reba over at Push the Envelope Bags for her hard work and dedication towards making some of the best bags in the world. I have abused mine for years and the buckles slowly gave way to the stress. I asked Reba to repair it up and although it took a little longer than I had expected, she not only repaired it, but she custom embroidered another bag with some customizations I requested as a reward for my patience. Check out the bag here. Shes a super nice lady, and if anybody out there is thinking about getting a high end bag that will last a long time - dont hesitate. She can be reached at Seamster AT PushTheEnvelope DOT com.
On another note, Sasha will be travelling to Japan for the next short bit, so he wont be around the shop. But he will probably have some stories when he gets back and you can bet he will be looking at bikes and searching for cycling paraphernalia.
New apron from Stanley & Sons
We received a few packages the other day and included was a surprise from my friends Chris and Jess over at Stanley & Sons. A huge thank you to them for sending me my new apron! Super sweet indigo-dyed duck cotton and a leather pocket. Check out their site for super sweet vintage bags and aprons! And here I am trying to look cool wearing it! fail.
Lookie lookie what we found!
Hello interweb. Sorry its been so long since we last updated! We have been having too much fun in the real world to keep the virtual world up to date! Lets see … last we spoke we were on our way to Biketoberfest! The co-ride with SOMA out there was great - we didnt lose anybody and at the end of it all there was BEER! And a whole bunch of it! Those that participated got a commemorative glass and all the beer they could drink! It was a grand time with some of the greatest bay-area and Nor Cal builders representing. Included were Hunter, Sycip, http://www.calfeedesign.com/, Retrotec and Inglis as well as industry standards Paul Comp. Some friends also raced in the ‘Cross race and a good time was had by all! More recently there was the SF Bike Expo and bike swap at Cow Palace. We might have seen one another there grabbing some goodies. But that will be covered in the next post. This post is really about the bike in the photo above.
A few months ago we showed off a Huffy Team Olympic bike and stated that we wanted to started a bike of the month posting. Well so far we’re off to a pretty horrible start, totally missing the second installment. And not for lack of bicycles either. Its just all our fault. Anyway, to show off make up for it here is a recent find: Sasha’s (practically) new team 7-Eleven Eddy Merckx! Probably a ‘91, this TSX Columbus tubed Dura Ace dream is awesome! Hardly a scratch on her! Sasha had always wanted this bike but decided that finding one in good shape and in his size was probably too much to ask for. Fear not! Original down to the cable and the chain, with the exception of the 8 speed cassette, the bicycle is a dream! Click on the photo for a shot of Sasha with the bike. A BIG BIG thank you to amazing sports photographer John McDermott for taking the photos! Be sure to check out his website especially if youre a sports or particularly soccer fan.
We also want to quickly add that we made another quick-n-dirty panoramic of the shop again. Its been about 1.5+ years since the last one and there has been a lot of changes.
